How do you read visual field results?
How do you read visual field results?
Use this order to interpret your Humphrey visual field every time:
- Confirm it’s the right patient with name and date of birth.
- Confirm it’s the right/left eye.
- Look at the reliability indices.
- Look at the pattern.
- Look at the GHT, mean deviation, VFI, and pattern standard deviation.
- Compare to the previous visual fields.
What does it mean if you fail a field vision test?
A “normal” visual field test means that the patient can see about as well as anyone else does in the center and around the edges of the visual field. A test that shows visual field loss means that vision in some areas is not as sensitive as normal.
What is normal VFI?
The VFI can range from 100% (normal visual field) to 0% (perimetrically blind field). 1. The VFI has been shown to be less susceptible than the MD to the effects of cataract or diffuse media opacities. 1,2. VFI is intended for use in calculating rates of progression and staging glaucomatous functional damage.
What are the aims of visual field analysis?
Aims of today,s topic Will be able • to identify field defect • to recognize that field defect is due to glaucoma or neurological lesion •to know that field defect is progressive or not 5. What is perimetry ? Bjerrum,s screen Lister octopus Humphrey Goldmann
How does Haag Streit help in visual field interpretation?
This is a progression analysis printout (EyeSuite, Haag-Streit) for a patient with advancing glaucoma in the left eye. EyeSuite uses the mean defect (same as mean deviation) value, among others, to plot the rate of change. In this example with visual field tests from 2003 to 2011, there is a negative slope to the MD.
When was the quantification of visual fields developed?
Quantification of visual fields was developed during the nineteenth century. Jannik Bjerrum began mapping visual fields by asking patients to identify whether a white object on the end of a black stick, in front of a black screen, was seen.
What are the results of the glaucoma hemifield test?
GLAUCOMA HEMIFIELD TEST (GHT) The GHT provides a plain language classifi cation of 30-2 and 24-2 test results based upon patterns of loss commonly seen in glaucoma. Pattern Deviation scores in each of fi ve zones in the upper hemifi eld are compared to fi ndings in mirror-image zones in the inferior visual fi eld.
