What is EPA Swmm used for?

What is EPA Swmm used for?

EPA’s Storm Water Management Model (SWMM) is used throughout the world for planning, analysis, and design related to stormwater runoff, combined and sanitary sewers, and other drainage systems.

What is xp SWMM?

XP-SWMM is a collection of computer programs that simulate rainfall-runoff processes in urban watersheds in addition to the transport of the runoff through pipes and channels. RUNOFF for determining flow generated from rainfall in a defined watershed or catchment.

How does Swmm calculate runoff?

The runoff is a function of catchment slope, water depth over the catchment, catchment width and surface roughness. The depth of water over a catchment is calculated from the rainfall on the subcatchments minus outflows due to infiltration into the ground, evaporation and surface runoff.

Can you identify where we can find depression storage?

Depression storage exists on pervious and impervious surfaces alike; however, depression storage is much greater on undisturbed, pervious surfaces.

Is the pcswmm the same as the EPA SWMM?

Like any other model, yes it has it’s kinks and areas for improvement. A point to remember is PCSWMM is an enhanced visual dashboard, with some tools added onto the EPA SWMM platform. I’ve generally found that for 90-95% of the projects that we do, PCSWMM operates fine.

Which is better, XP SWMM or PC SWMM?

We prefer not to use XP-SWMM because we’ve had difficulty with its stability (system crashes and errors) in the past compared to PC-SWMM. Obviously we’d also like to avoid the cost of purchasing XP SWMM as well for just this one project.

What is the EPA’s storm water management model?

1 What is SWMM . The EPA Storm Water Management Model (SWMM) is a dynamic rainfall-runoff simulation model used for single event or longterm (continuous) simulation of runoff quantity and quality from – primarily urban areas. The runoff component of SWMM operates on a collection of subcatchment

What do you need to know about the SWMM?

SWMM provides an integrated environment for editing study area input data, running hydrologic, hydraulic and water quality simulations, and viewing the results in a variety of formats. These include color-coded drainage area and conveyance system maps, time series graphs and tables, profile plots, and statistical frequency analyses.
