What is a Phasitron?
What is a Phasitron?
The Phasitron® is a unique venturi that acts as a “clutch” mechanism to protect the lung from over pressure. By automatically adjusting to the resistance of the lung, the Phasitron® precisely and safely delivers the optimal volume and pressure of air required by the alveolar space.
What is an IPV treatment?
Intrapulmonary percussive ventilation (IPV) derives from high-frequency percussive ventilation, which was initially applied to treat respiratory failure after smoke inhalation or burns. 8–11. It is a pressure-limited, time-cycled, high-frequency mode of ventilation that delivers sub-physiologic tidal volumes.
What is percussive ventilation?
High-frequency percussive ventilation is a time-cycled, pressure-limited mode of ventilation that delivers subphysiologic tidal volumes at rates that can exceed 500 breaths/min.
How do you use IPV?
IPV may be applied via mouthpiece, mask, artificial airway, or through a ventilator. A qualified respiratory care practitioner will administer IPV to the patient. Respiratory Care Service with the understanding of age specific requirements of the patient population treated.
What is the Phasitron air delivery system for lungs?
All Percussionaire devices use the Phasitron ® to safely and precisely provide HFPV in one convenient delivery system. The Phasitron ® is an open breathing circuit which accommodates any patient lung volume regardless of compliance. It works equally well for most patient populations.
Is the Phasitron 5 breathing circuit safe for adults?
Proven safe and effective for over 30 years, the Impulsator ® has provided the same TRUE-IPV ®, using the Phasitron ® 5 breathing circuit as the Percussionaire ® hospital devices. This self-contained device is durable, easy to use, and suitable for adult and pediatric patients.
What is the Phasitron 5 in line valve used for?
The hospital IPV ® -1C Phasitron ® 5 breathing circuit may be used for intermittent therapy for up to 6 months by a single patient. The Phasitron ® In-Line Valve creates an interface between the IPV ® -1C and a conventional ventilator.
What kind of flow is created by Phasitron?
The flow created by the Phasitron ® is known as Pulsatile Flow which bathes the alveoli in fresh oxygenated air while gently washing out CO2 and secretions. HFPV is a Pulsatile Flow that mobilizes and removes mucus and debris, while gently recruiting alveoli and restoring FRC.
