How does HT12E and HT12D work?
How does HT12E and HT12D work?
By using the paired HT12E encoder and HT12D decoder we can easily transmit and receive 12 bits of parallel data serially. HT12E simply converts 12 bit parallel data in to serial output which can be transmitted through a RF transmitter. These 12 bit parallel data is divided in to 8 address bits and 4 data bits.
What is HT12E IC?
HT12E is an encoder integrated circuit of 212 series of encoders. They are paired with 212 series of decoders for use in remote control system applications. It is mainly used in interfacing RF and infrared circuits. It encodes the 12 bit parallel data into serial for transmission through an RF transmitter.
What is HT12D decoder?
The HT12D is a 2^12 decoder in 18 pin DIP package. This decoder is a series of CMOS LSIs for remote control system applications. It is paired with Holtek’s 2^12 encoder. For proper operation, a pair of encoder/decoder with same number of addresses and data format should be chosen.
How do encoders and decoders work?
Encoder circuit basically converts the applied information signal into a coded digital bit stream. Decoder performs reverse operation and recovers the original information signal from the coded bits. In case of encoder, the applied signal is the active signal input. Decoder accepts coded binary data as its input.
Why is the address limited on the ht12e?
The HT12E uses the address to transmit with the transmitted data. This address can only be from 256 combinations of 8-bits. This makes the device limited. In most of the cases, the generated signal has a theft issue. Because the signal is broadcasted and unable to trace the receive.
How is the ht12d decoder used in remote control?
HT12D is a 2 12 series decoder, most commonly used in remote control applications. By using the HT12E encoder and HT12D decoder, we can transmit 12 bits of parallel data serially. HT12D converts serial data to its input to 12 bit parallel data.
Is the ht12e an IC for RF or IR?
HT12E is an encoder IC for RF and IR modules mostly. It is a 12-bit decoder that uses 8-bits for address and 4 for data. RF and IR modules can interface with microcontrollers directly which requires a little bit complex programming. In addition, This encoder IC is easy to implement and simple to use.
How is the output of the ht12e encoder obtained?
DOUT: The output of the encoder can be obtained through this pin and can be connected to the RF transmitter. HT12E starts working with a low signal on the TE pin. After receiving a low signal the HT12E starts the transmission of 4 data bits as shown in the timing diagram above.
