There are always those who will say it’s cruel to animals who are in captivity. I can say I found the day at discovery cove magical. The animals are very well cared for and the staff were completely committed. But the dolphins in discovery cove seem very happy.

Is Discovery Cove safe for dolphins?

In conclusion, Discovery Cove acknowledges that their park isn’t suitable to the dolphins and killer whales, but they still are complacent to keep unsuitable conditions. Many guest still complain to the park manager about the animal cruelty. However, Discovery Cove may never change their ways.

Is there a weight limit to swim with dolphins at Discovery Cove?

There is no weight restriction, the dolphins are seriously strong and will not have any problem gliding anybody across the water. There is no harm to the dolphin and one does not ride on his back. It is a fun “ride”, they just drag you through the water.

Are alcoholic drinks free at Discovery Cove?

Everyone that enters the water with the dolphins, MUST wear a wetsuit. So don’t worry if you are a large person, we have a wet suit to fit you. During hot weather, you can keep the wet suit unzipped until you go into the water.

The temperature of our pools remains constant throughout the year. The fresh water Serenity Bay, Freshwater Oasis and Wind-Away River are maintained around 85-86 F (30 C). The salt water Dolphin Lagoon and The Grand Reef® is maintained around 76-77 F (25 C).
