AICPA members represent many areas of practice, including business and industry, public practice, government, education and consulting. The AICPA sets ethical standards for the profession and U.S. auditing standards for private companies, nonprofit organizations, federal, state and local governments.

Why to join the AICPA?

AICPA membership offers other benefits like discounts at Office Depot, CPE and access to somewhat cheap long-term disability and life insurance. It’s even more valuable if you can get someone else to pay for it. If you’re an asset to your firm, they’ll cough up your membership fee.

How much is AICPA membership?

The fee is now $100 to 150 per year for AICPA members (more details below). For now, the CPE requirement for AICPA member and CGMA designation holders is the same.

How many CPA in the US?

While it is difficult to find out the number of CPA worldwide, we can estimate based on the data in the US. There are around 1.3 million US accountants according to the Bureau of Labor statistics . Depending on which assumption you use on the number of CPAs, we get a rough estimate that 30% to 50% of accountants are CPAs in the US.
