What was Special Brew?
Carlsberg Special Brew is a rich malty, strong lager. It is full bodied, with cognac notes and a distinct bitterness. First produced in 1950 to commemorate Sir Winston Churchill’s visit to Copenhagen, Special Brew has Cognac notes to reflect Churchill’s favourite tipple.
Why has Special Brew changed?
9% Special Brew in 450ml cans would only contain 4 units of alcohol. Carlsberg have decided to reduce the can size AND lower the percentage to 8%. Meaning that the original tradonal recipe has been changed AND the customer is getting a smaller volume for their money.
