How do I set the time on my P7100?
How do I set the time on my P7100?
Just pin time the pump, and hook up the dial indicator. Then spin the engine until the pump is at desired timing. Then, pop the gear, set the engine back to TDC, and tighten the gear.
How do you time a pump?
Insert your dial indicator (which you should have within a week) and zero it. Turn the engine toward TDC, and stop when you get to TDC. The amount the needle moved is your timing @ TDC. If you are too advanced, move the pump downward on the gear housing, and vice versa.
Where is TDC on 24V Cummins?
On the 24V engine the timing pin has been eliminated. Now, to find TDC without using the valve lash method, you remove the fuel pumps gear cover on the front of the engine. The gear has a mark that is straight up for TDC and doing the first set of valves and straight down for doing the second half of the adjustments.
Where is top dead center on a diesel?
To find the Top Dead Center (TDC) on a diesel engine, virtually all diesels will have a mark on the front pulley and another mark cast into the front housing, just line the two up.
Is 24v better than 12v Cummins?
When it comes to serious power and performance the 12v 5.9 Cummins takes the win. These engines are known to hold up better at extreme power levels when compared to the 24v engines. P7100 injection pumps on the 6BT are easier to mod and support the extra power.
What is diesel spill timing?
Injection timing, also called spill timing, is the moment when diesel fuel enters the cylinder during the combustion phase. When you adjust the timing, you can alter when the engine injects the fuel, therefore changing when combustion occurs.
How do you check the timing on a fuel pump?
Hair line Test is a method of checking fuel pump timing by looking for the crank angle when the marking on plunger and its body coincides. When the unit is at TDC with both markings on plunger and its body coincide; the crank angle marking on flywheel will tell the exact position of fuel injection on timing diagram.
