Do Vance and Hines slip ons have baffles?

Do slip ons have baffles?

Yes. The stock baffles that come in the 4″ slip ons are 2″ baffles. These are 2.5″ baffles which give you a really nice deep sound to your bike. The stock baffles take a little work to remove but once removed, these slide and fit perfectly in place.

Do I need a tuner with slip on exhaust?

Just slip-ons are okay with out a tuner. The cat in the head pipe is very restrictive. If you change the air cleaner also then a tuner will be needed.

Will removing baffles hurt my Harley?

If your bike is stock the way it came from the factory it is already running very lean. If you remove the baffles or add a free flowing air filter it will run even leaner. You could add a fueler to richen up the air fuel ratio. The new Gen3 will be easy to install and adjustable for any future mods you might make.

Running a motorcycle without its baffles is not bad for the engine. It will not cause any engine damage. To get the most out of baffles removal, make sure to rejet or tune your motorcycle afterwards. This ensures you still have the right air / fuel ratio – allowing you to even gain some performance in the end.

Removing your baffles will likely require a retune…that really messes with the back pressure. If you listen to some other mufflers and inquire as to the manufacturer of some that you like, you’re more likely to better match the backpressure your present pipes have and not hurt your tune as much.
