Our tribe is located in Deming, Washington, just 15 miles east of Bellingham, 12 miles south of the Canadian border, nestled amongst majestic mountains, lush forest, and the meandering and dynamic Nooksack River.
What does the word Nooksack mean?

Two versions have been put forth to define the name Nooksack. One is that it means mountain men, the name given by Indians on the coast to this Salish tribe. Like most Northwest Coast indigenous peoples, the pre-contact Nooksack subsisted on fishing, hunting, gathering and trading.
