What is deaeration method?
What is deaeration method?
Deaeration is the process by which air is removed from a substance where the air has mixed with or dissolved in the substance. Deaeration is used for liquids, soils and foods to improve their quality and reduce contamination, and to remove oxygen from vessels that contain liquids to reduce the corrosion rate.
Why does BFW require deaeration?
Why Deaerator? It is the utmost necessary to remove the dissolved gases from the feed-, as the presence of Dissolve Oxygen in the leads to pitting corrosion in the high-pressure pipes/metal tubes and the presence of CO2 gas reduces the pH level of the by generating Carbonic Acid.
How do you Deaerate water?
The simplest is boiling the water, as oxygen has very low solubility in hot water. “Scrubbing” of the water with oxygen-free CO2 or nitrogen is another method, and finally applying a vacuum to water trickling over a large surface (often in a hollow tube filled with small “fillers”) can also be applied.
Which is the correct description of a deaerator?
There are two basic types of deaerators, the spray & tray-type and the spray-type: The spray & tray-type (also called the cascade-type) includes a vertical or horizontal domed deaeration section mounted on top of a horizontal cylindrical vessel which serves as the deaerated boiler feedwater storage tank.
How is the preheating section of a deaerator separated?
As shown in Figure 2, the typical spray-type deaerator is a horizontal vessel which has a preheating section (E) and a deaeration section (F). The two sections are separated by a baffle (C). Low-pressure steam enters the vessel through a sparger in the bottom of the vessel.
Where does the Babcock Wanson deaeration column go?
The design by Babcock Wanson optimises the removal of dissolved gases. A deaeration column is mounted above a storage vessel.
How is the rotating disc replaced in a deaerator?
For high viscous products the rotating disc is replaced with static one. Deaeration relies on the principle that the solubility of a gas in water decreases as the water temperature increases and approaches its boiling point. In the deaerator, water is heated up to close to its boiling point with a minimum pressure drop and minimum vent.
