Students compete for top international honors in one of 25 different competitions. Collegiate DECA competitive events recognize student achievement, provide opportunities for traveling to conferences and networking with peers.

What is DECA state competition?
The State Career Development Conference (SCDC) is the biggest and most exciting California DECA event of the year. Members from across California gather each year for competitions, workshops, state officer campaigns, networking and countless other opportunities. The best competitors at SCDC qualify to attend ICDC.
What is the DECA dress code?
While official DECA blazers are not required during briefing and testing, professional business dress is required. Professional dress should also be worn to all conference sessions including workshops and special meal functions such as luncheons.

Stay in character:

- Leave them a business card (from your scratch paper)
- Ask them to sign a contract to begin your efforts.
- End with a strong handshake.

DECA membership is available to students with career interests in marketing, entrepreneurship, finance, hospitality and management in grades nine through twelve. DECA membership is also open to DECA advisors, alumni and professional members. Students who are in college may join Collegiate DECA.
Who qualifies for ICDC DECA?
DECA members who take the Hospitality and Tourism Cluster Exam at ICDC and score at least 70% will be eligible for American Hotel and Lodging Educational Institute (AHLEI) Certified Guest Services Professional Certification.

NATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS DECA students who are first place winners at the DECA International Career Development Conference (ICDC) competitions can receive $5,000 in addition to the DECA State Scholarship and the member amount.
