Where are liver secretion stored?
Where are liver secretion stored?
About 50% of the bile produced by the liver is first stored in the gallbladder. This is a pear-shaped organ located directly below the liver. Then, when food is eaten, the gallbladder contracts and releases stored bile into the duodenum to help break down the fats.
Which side is the liver located?
In simplest terms, it can be said that the liver is located on the right side of the abdominal cavity, just below the diaphragm. In scientific terms, it is said to be located in the right upper quadrant of the abdominal cavity.
Which is the right lobe of the liver?
It has two lobes, ie the right lobe and the left lobe. Also note the gall bladder below the right lobe of liver. Abdomen can be divided in two ways, that is, into 9 regions or 4 quadrants. You can see the divisions in the images given below.
What is the color of the liver organ?
As it carries out several important functions in the body, the liver is considered as vital an organ as the heart and the brain. It is reddish-brown or pinkish-brown in color, and is shaped like a football (not to be confused with the soccer ball).
Where does the pain in the liver come from?
Liver can be noticed in Right hypochondriac, epigastric, left hypochondriac and the right lumbar regions. Liver pain is normally felt in Right Hypochondriac or epigastric regions. Image 3: Quadrants of Abdomen.
What is the visceral surface of liver?
Visceral surface – the posteroinferior surface of the liver. With the exception of the fossa of the gallbladder and porta hepatis, it is covered with peritoneum. It is moulded by the shape of the surrounding organs, making it irregular and flat.
Do we have 2 livers?
Normally you can’t feel the liver, because it’s protected by the rib cage. The liver has two large sections, called the right and the left lobes.
Does the diaphragm cover the liver?

Where is the caudate process located in the liver?
The caudate process is a small elevation of the hepatic substance extending obliquely and laterally, from the lower extremity of the caudate lobe to the undersurface of the right lobe. This article incorporates text in the public domain from the 20th edition of Gray’s Anatomy (1918)
How is the lower border of the liver determined?
The upper border is percussed using heavy percussion, eliminating the resonant quality produced by the overlying segment of the lung. Light percussion, with the examiner’s ear close to the abdomen, best determines the lower border of the liver, because of the liver’s apposition to the anterior abdominal wall.
Where are the accessory lobes of the liver located?
There are two further ‘accessory’ lobes that arise from the right lobe, and are located on the visceral surface of liver: Caudate lobe – located on the upper aspect of the visceral surface. It lies between the inferior vena cava and a fossa produced by the ligamentum venosum (a remnant of the fetal ductus venosus).
