Habitat4U provide semi-independent accommodation and support worker services for vulnerable young people aged 16 – 21. Habitat4U ensures greater service delivery through targeted support and engagement of the young persons with the aid of our experienced support team.

What’s the difference between SDA and SIL?

Supported Independent Living (SIL) is the support or supervision of daily tasks to live independently. Supported Disability Accommodation (SDA), on the other hand, is for people with disability who have severe functional impairment or highly complex support needs that require specialist housing alternatives.

Who is eligible for SIL?

All NDIS participants may be eligible for SIL funding, whether they rent privately, own their own home, live with others, or live in Specialist Disability Accommodation. There are three levels of SIL funding: ‘Lower needs’ provides regular supervision of living arrangements.

What are semi independent living services ( Sils )?

Semi-independent living services (SILS) include training and assistance in managing money, preparing meals, shopping, hygiene and other activities needed to maintain and improve the capacity of an adult with a developmental disability to live in the community.

Where are supported independent living Vacancies in NSW?

There are a range of Supported Independent Living (SIL) accommodation models available for NDIS participants, we also have range of established SIL vacancies available across NSW and the ACT. Service provider leases or owns an affordable housing property in locations such as Western Sydney, Northern NSW and the Hunter.

How does the supported Independent Living Program work?

The Supported Independent Living Program (SILP) helps young people in out-of-home care successfully transition into independence and adulthood. Participants are given the opportunity to experience the realities of independent living with the security of on-hand support.

Do you need NDIS funding for supported independent living?

If you are looking for somewhere to live now it is important that you have, or are applying for, the correct funding from the NDIS. Many of our houses require Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) funding in addition to Supported Independent Living funding. Please see under each housing type for specific requirements.
