The VPN Passthrough is needed because all the routers used recently consist of Network Address Translation (NAT – which allows several computers to share the same internet connection), and both PPTP and IPSec do not work with NAT. Note: No ports need opening to enable VPN passthrough, it will automatically work.

Does BT block VPNs?

Why did you opt for the Smart Hub 2?

As most users just use their broadband for home use, I doubt that BT will see it as a major issue. Why did you opt for the Smart Hub 2? Another alternative is to use a router which supports VPN usage. I am having the very same issue.
