SOHAR is a 50:50 joint venture between the Government of Oman and the Port of Rotterdam. SOHAR Freezone is a 4,500 hectares development that, together with SOHAR Port, has attracted over US$27 billion in investments.

The Government of the Sultanate of Oman has a concessionary agreement with SOHAR Industrial Port Company SAOC (SIPC). This allows SIPC to develop, manage and operate SOHAR Port and Freezone (Royal Decree 80/2002). This concession entitles SIPC to charge port dues for vessels entering the port area of SOHAR.

The project cargo surcharge is US$1.14 per freight ton (w/M) on project cargoes destined for projects inside SOHAR Port and Freezone concession area. The surcharge will be levied via the shipping agent.
