Is the Canon 60D weather sealed?
Is the Canon 60D weather sealed?
Basically no. Canon offers varying degrees of weather sealing on their cameras and the 60D has some sealing, but I would not use it in rain, beyond a light mist. They do make bags you can put around your camera and lens if absolutely necessary.
How are cameras weather sealed?
What is Weather Sealing? Modern weather sealed interchangeable lens cameras usually provide the following measures to minimize the entry of splashes of water, dust, and moisture: Rubberized seals, buttons, and dials. Rubber gaskets around either a weatherized lens and/or the camera lens mount itself.

The lack of Auto Focus Microadjustment on the 60D also means that the lens you used isn’t focusing properly when used with the viewfinder. The lens should still focus accurately, but slower, with Live View. With the camera on a tripod try a few shots of a nice target (newspaper, magazine page, etc.)
What is canon weather sealing?
Canon adds protective seals at vulnerable points – including the lens mount – to help resist water. The critical word here is ‘resist’. Canon does not guarantee that the seals stop water from entering the camera, only that they make it less likely.
How many environmental seals does the Canon 60D have?
Canon did not detail just how many environmental seals that the EOS 60D has, but they did say that it is a “robust, densely packed compact body with dust and water resistance.” As you can see in the two diagrams at right, the EOS 60D’s sealing is fairly extensive.
Is the Canon 60D as weather proof as the 50D?
For Canon, you won’t see any serious sealing below L class lenses, and even there it’s not universal. Canon claims that 60D is as much weatherproof as 50D, but for weather resistance – it just feels better to hold a magnesium alloy body like the 7d over a plastic/fiber-glass one like 60D.
What do you need to know about weather sealing on cameras?
Your camera lens needs just as much protection from the elements as your camera body — particularly the lens mount where a good seal is needed between the lens and camera body, and the moving parts where the barrel of the lens zooms in and out.
