  1. Step 1: Secure the vehicle on jack stands or ramps.
  2. Step 2: Allow time for the gear oil to completely drain.
  3. Step 3: Locate and remove the gear oil fill bolt.
  4. Step 4: Use a pump to slowly add the recommended type of gear oil to the differential.

Do you need synthetic Lube for 12 bolt Posi?

Now is a synthetic REQUIRED, not unless the item WAS setup to only operate with it. Like some of the newer SULEV vehicles are using 0w20 synthetic because synthetics are only form of lube that would perform at that low of weight. Reason for it is less viscosity means less oil in chamber to burn, and less pumping loss of power. Now do we NEED THEM?

I just need to know what wt. gear oil I should use. I did a search but didn’t see that thread. Does anyone know what wt the Moroso gear climbing lube is?

What kind of lubricant do you use on a 12 bolt?

Purchase 3 Quarts of Valvoline 80W90 and the GM Limited Slip Additive. Do not use Synthetic Oil. Lucas is another “climbing” lubricant.
