It’s pretty easy:

1. Get a micro SD card if not supplied with the R4.
2. Buy your R4.
3. Connect your Micro SD to a computer and drag the firmware files onto it.
4. Make a folder called Games on the card.
5. Drag any ROMs you have downloaded into the Games folder.
6. Put the card in the R4 Card and then put it in your DS.
