How do I set units in Femap?

How do I set units in Femap?

To set units u can use tool>convert units>load & can choose any system from library provide. If u r providing material specification on ur own the no need to convert units just use geometry in mm.

What are consistent units?

Units are consistent when all units of the same dimension can be converted to each other with a conversion factor of 1. For example, 1 Newton is consistent with 1 kg m/s2 but not with 1 kg cm/s2. Show that 1 Newton is consistent with 1 kg m/s2 by checking expr1 but not with 1 kg cm/s2 by checking expr2 .

What is the unit of density?

Kilogram per cubic meter
Density/SI units

What do you mean by unit consistency in physics?

Answer: Unit consistency means that the metrics (the units of measure) on one side of the = in an equation must equal the metrics on the opposite side of the equation. . In other words, the numbers must equal for sure, but also the units used in an equation must also equal… must balance.

What is dimensional analysis physics?

: a method of analysis in which physical quantities are expressed in terms of their fundamental dimensions that is often used when there is not enough information to set up precise equations.

What is the SI unit of mass?

The SI unit of mass is the kilogram (kg).

Is Joule a SI unit?

The SI unit for work and energy commonly used in drawing is the joule (J), which is equivalent to a force of one newton exerted through a distance of one meter (m). Work in the UK/US system is often expressed as foot-pounds (ft-lb), with one foot-pound equal to 1.3558 J.

What is difference between unit and dimension?

There is a difference between dimensions and units. A dimension is a measure of a physical variable (without numerical values), while a unit is a way to assign a number or measurement to that dimension. For example, length is a dimension, but it is measured in units of feet (ft) or meters (m).

Do you have to specify units in Femap-Eng?

In the above case, if you had applied a force in kN (thus 0.1) you would get stress with unit kN/mm^2 = 1 GPa. So you don’t have the option to specify your units in i.e. mm-N-kg or whatever. You only need to make sure you are consistent with your units. I will post you the .mod file of a 3D solid beam tonight. Regards.

How many units are in a Femap beam?

Geometry beam: L x W x H = 150 x 10 x 10 mm (in Pro/E). When inported in Femap, the lentgh is manually scale with factor 25.4 (1 inch = 25.4 mm), so Femap shows also 150x10x10. Force applied: 100. -> Calcualated stress: 1. The stress has units N/mm^2 as you assume length units in mm and force units in N.

Can you replace Factor 39, 37 with 1 in Femap?

On the other hand, you can when you import the .igs or .stp file in Femap replace the factor 39,37 with 1. In this case you get units in meters, provided that the units in the CAD file were mm’s. In the above case, if you had applied a force in kN (thus 0.1) you would get stress with unit kN/mm^2 = 1 GPa.

How does force balance work in Femap analysis manager?

Analysis Manager > Master Requests and Conditions > Nastran Output Requests > Force Balance FEMAP can work with a reduced set of data including applied load (OLOAD), constraint force (SPCFORCE), and constraint equation (MPCFORCE).
