What is X2Go used for?

X2Go allows you to access a remote graphical desktop over a low bandwidth connection. In otherwords, you can use X2Go to login to the Unix timeshare in a graphical fashion instead of using a command line. It is similar to the X11 (or XWindows) system that use XDMCP (or SSH) to view a remote desktop.

How do I set up X2Go?

Setup Instructions for X2Go

  1. Select Session -> New Session from the file menu, or click the New Session icon from the top left of the X2Go window.
  2. Enter a name for the session (ex. Aurora)
  3. Enter the server name (ex. aurora.nceas.ucsb.edu)
  4. Select MATE as the desktop.
  5. Optional:

Does X2Go work on Windows?
