We are one of three Victorian Government owned retail water businesses in metro Melbourne. We provide drinking water, sewerage, trade waste and recycled water services to our community of customers throughout inner Melbourne and the western suburbs.

Where does City West Water Come From?
Along with the other two metropolitan water retailers, City West Water purchases bulk water from wholesaler Melbourne Water. This water is sourced from the Thomson River and Yarra River catchments and supplied to City West Water from three main locations: Silvan Reservoir near Mount Dandenong.
How do I change my water supplier?
Under the current legislation, household customers are not able to change their water supplier or sewerage service provider. The water or sewerage company that supplies your property will depend on where you live.
Why do I need a PIC number?
Property Identification Code (PIC) – New South Wales You will require a property identification code (PIC) if you are the owner / manager or occupier of land that holds livestock. If you have horses on your property or you are an owner of property where horses are agisted, you will also require a PIC.
Do I need to connect water when I move?
A water connection gives you access to our pipes so you can use water, wastewater or stormwater services. You don’t need to connect if you’re moving to an existing property with water and wastewater services.
How do I get my water connected?
Licensed plumbers can join your private plumbing to an existing water or wastewater connection. When you make a new water connection, you must get a licensed plumber to install the water pipe from the point of connection to the meter. Licensed plumbers must install the water meter within two days of connection.
