How old is the Garmin Forerunner 305?

It was 15 years ago this past week that the Forerunner 305 was released, at CES 2006 (Consumer Electronics Show). Arguably the device that began it all from a GPS running watch standpoint, its famed reddish color made it easy to spot a mile away.

Is the Garmin Forerunner 305 waterproof?

The Garmin 305 specifies a underwater rating to allow it 30 minutes of time submerged at 1 meter – which is more than enough depth for your average open water swim (unless you plan to dive with it). The new Garmin Forerunner 310XT now had a much longer waterproofing time built into it, and can go down to 50m.

What are the features of the Garmin Forerunner 305?

One nice feature is being able to customize the display screens. Another review criticized the 305 for the numbers being too small to read while exercising. I don’t have an issue but would point out that you can significantly increase the size of the display by simply displaying fewer fields.

Can a Garmin 305 be used as a treadmill?

One accessory you can get for the 305 that’s applicable to running is the Garmin footpod. This footpod allows you to run indoors on a treadmill and still give accurate pace and distance data to the Garmin (any Garmin device, 305/310XT/405/410, etc..).

Which is better Garmin 305 or Garmin 405?

One advantage to note with the 305 charger unit over that of the 405 unit is that the 305 charger sounds ‘clicks’ into place, whereas the 405 tends to fall out a bit easier of jostled. A minor nit, but something worthwhile mentioning. The cradle uses a small mini-USB connector on the ‘dock’, which connects to your computer via standard USB.

How long can you run on a Garmin Forerunner?

Fortunately, with Li-Ion batteries, as little as a 10 minute charge gives you enough juice for a 90 minute run. If you’ve found this review to be helpful, please let me know!
