Can you put lift blocks on the front?

Never use front lift blocks. Front blocks are dangerous, period. The side-loads placed on a front axle during a turn can cause the blocks to eject from where they’re supposed to be, and you’ll have no control of where you stop.

Why are block lifts bad?

Lift blocks are all the way around a bad idea, the increased leverage of the axle creates increased “axle wrap” or twisting. Vibration from lift blocks because of inconsistent driveshaft angles, bent springs, and poor traction are all a result of lift blocks.

Are lift blocks bad for your truck?

Steering will place side loads on the lift blocks, which can create major safety concerns. If the U-bolts loosen or the block breaks, you may lose control over the vehicle’s steering. Additionally, for trucks with lift blocks installed in them at the factory, you shouldn’t stack extra lift blocks onto them.

Do lift blocks affect ride quality?

Adding a body lift kit to a truck will not affect the ride quality since the suspension of the vehicle is not altered in any way. Suspension lift kits do alter the suspension and will affect the ride quality. The higher the lift kit, the more the ride quality will change.

Are lift blocks legal?

YOU CAN ONLY USE THEM AT THE REAR OF YOUR VEHICLE Also, if you’re looking at raising your vehicle any more than 2 or 3 inches, using a lift block to do so is against the law and just plain dangerous.

Can you put blocks under front leaf springs?

The only way to do this properly is to get a solid block with a pin going all the way through the leaf pack (picture the way a DR 2″ leveling kit spring pack is setup), the block and down into the spring perch. Another safety measure is to get a good welder to weld the block to the spring perch.

Do lift blocks cause axle wrap?

Axle wrap happens when the torque at the rear wheels causes the axle to go the opposite direction of the tires. Once you lift a truck you are amplifying the amount of axle wrap that the suspension allows. Lift blocks move the axle off of the leaf springs and axle wrap is amplified even more.

Are leveling kits worth it?

A leveling kit is a perfect addition if you are looking to improve off-roading capabilities. Higher ground clearance and larger tires are ideal when venturing into mud, dirt, rocks, sand, and other terrains. It will prevent the front bumper and other parts from being damaged by rocks and debris.

Is it bad to stack lift blocks?

Stacking blocks is not the most safe thing out there. The reason that companies do it is to retain the bump stop ears. If you think about it though most lifts do not use the bump stops as they come with either taller springs or taller blocks to replace the factory blocks.

Is a body or suspension lift better?

A suspension lift is a better choice than a body lift in situations where off-road performance is important. First and foremost, a suspension lift not only provides room for larger tires, but it also increases the ground clearance under the frame.

Do lift kits affect driving?

First of all, a lift kit is more than just a mechanism to make your truck higher. Also, a lift kit will likely affect the drive of your vehicle. The higher you go, the rougher the ride, so expect the ride to be not as smooth. Lifting and adding new tires, no matter how low or high, will affect your fuel economy.
