When was the Pixel building built?
This building was designed by Studio 505, a local architecture and design studio, and Grocon, a local construction company in 2010. Studio 505 said “Pixel is a ‘Future Office’ – a prototype of the commercial buildings that will emerge when a carbon constrained environment demands a greater focus on energy efficiency.

How is Council House 2 a sustainable building?
One of the basics was simply to limit direct exposure on the north side of the building, which indeed was done (there’s an image of the north facade towards the end of the post). Large masonry is pierced by thin, vertical balconies with gardens to even further reduce temperature for occupiers of these outdoor spaces (through transpiration).
