What is Streetworks training?

NRSWA Training courses are designed for Supervisors and Operatives who are required to carry out their duties to the standards prescribed by City & Guilds in-line with the New Roads and Street Works Act (NRSWA), current legislation, and applicable Approved Codes of Practice (ACOP’s).

What is Lantra training?

How long does a street works course take?

2 day course for supervision/skillset of operatives who sign, light and guard roadways. Compliance with SWQR registration scheme. 3 day course for supervision/skillset of operatives who excavate in the roadways and use road signs and traffic lights. Compliance with SWQR.

What is signing lighting and guarding?

The NRSWA Signing, Lighting and Guarding training course is designed to operatives and supervisors understand the requirements of the street works and road works Code of Practice.

Does Streetworks cover CSCS?

Yes. Separate test to be undertaken. ICATS scheme has a specific section on health and safety. A separate health and safety test would be required for a CSCS card.

What is the difference between Nrswa and SWQR?

We are authorised by the UK Government Transport Departments to maintain the Street Works Qualifications Register (SWQR). Under the New Roads and Street Works Act, 1991 (NRSWA), candidates with a certificate from an Awarding Organisation can be issued with an SWQR card.

How do training providers get accreditation?

The main steps in the accreditation process to become a SETA Accredited Training Provider:

  1. The Training Provider determines the primary focus.
  2. The SETA Quality Assurance Management Division requirements are compiled by the provider.
  3. The Training Provider completes and submits an online application form for accreditation.

Can I use the Lantra logo?

The Lantra Logo eg ‘Lantra approved’ should not be used by those companies who are registered solely on the Schedule of Suppliers. These logos are issued to Lantra approved Training Instructors and Lantra approved Training Providers ie those who deliver Lantra training.

What is a street works Licence?

A private streetworks licence is required for members of the public or businesses to undertake works that involve digging up or altering a pavement or road.

What does Nrswa cover?

The New Roads and Street Works Act 1991 (NRSWA) sets out the objectives of the co-ordination function: to ensure safety; • to minimise inconvenience to people using a street, including a specific reference to people with a disability; and • to protect the structure of the street and the apparatus in it.

How long does signing lighting and guarding last?

Valid for five years.

Can the Jobcentre help me get a CSCS card?

If you’re unemployed, your local job centre can provide you with financial support and pay on your behalf. Much like the case with job centres, support will be available if you have a probation officer. If you’re already employed by a construction company, they may pay on your behalf.
