What is reinforced PTFE?

What is reinforced PTFE?

PTFE is reinforced with glass fibers, the percentage varying between 5 and 40%. The added glass fiber improves the wear properties and, to a minor degree, also the deformation strength under load while leaving substantially unchanged the electrical and chemical characteristics.

What is PTFE carbon?

PTFE carbon contains of 75% PTFE virgin and 25% carbon fillers. It is available in black colour with a hardness of 67 shore D. The carbon fillers improve the creep resistance, hardness and thermal conductivity of the PTFE. This material offers excellent wear properties and is particularly suitable for the use in water.

What is PTFE graphite?

PTFE graphite with a hardness of 60 shore D compounds of 15% graphite and 85% PTFE virgin and is available in dark grey colour. PTFE graphite has one of the lowest coefficient of friction and an improved conductivity. The wear properties are particularly excellent in operation with soft metals.

What is the difference between PTFE and Rptfe?

PTFE and RPTFE are important polymer materials. The key difference between PTFE and RPTFE is that PTFE is polytetrafluoroethylene, whereas RPTFE is reinforced polytetrafluoroethylene. Due to the reinforcement, RPTFE has high strength compared to PTFE.

Which is better graphite or carbon filled PTFE?

Graphite filled PTFE Graphite filled PTFE provides some similar benefits to ‘normal’ carbon filled PTFE but without the greatly improved wear resistance. Graphite lowers the coefficient of friction and Graphite filled PTFE has excellent self lubricating properties.

What happens when carbon is added to a PTFE?

Carbon is added to the PTFE in a percentage by weight between 10 and 35%, along with small percentage of graphite. Also, the carbon tends to improve to a considerable degree, wear and deformation strength, while leaving practically unchanged the chemical resistance, but substantially modifying the electrical properties.

What are the physical properties of filled PTFE?

Filled PTFE has inferior chemical resistance depending upon the particular filler. The physical properties of Standard & Non-standard filled grade composition not mentioned in above table are to be referred on the basis of Material Test Certificate issued by Raw Material Supplier / Manufacturer.

Which is better glass filled PTFE or Virgin PTFE?

Glass filled PTFE is more abrasive than Virgin PTFE, meaning that it can be abrasive to adjacent surfaces. 2. Carbon filled PTFE Carbon filled PTFE benefits from improved compressive strength, reduced deformation under heavy loads, and better wear resistance than virgin PTFE.
