What does ASTM A276 mean?

What does ASTM A276 mean?

ASTM A276 is a standard specification for stainless steel bars and shapes, used for manufacturing bolts, screws, studs, nuts, other fasteners and similar bolting parts for general service applications.

What is A276 material?

ASTM A276 Type 316 is a material grade specification for cold-finished or hot-finished bars in 316 stainless steel, available in form of rounds, square, hexagons and other hot rolled extruded shapes.

What is SA479?

Standard Specification for Stainless Steel Bars and Shapes for Use in Boilers and Other Pressure Vessels.

What is ASTM A564?

The ASTM A564 (A564M is the equivalent metric version of A564) is a technical specification a that covers bars and profiles of age-hardened stainless steels. Variations of the steels covered are hot-finished or cold-finished rounds, squares, hexagons, bar shapes, angles, tees, and channels are included.

What is ASME sa182?

Standard Specification for Forged or Rolled Alloy and Stainless Steel Pipe Flanges, Forged Fittings, and Valves and Parts for High-Temperature Service.

What is the difference between ASTM A276 and ASTM A479?

A479 specifically refers to use in boiler and pressure vessel applications. A276 specifically defers bars for reforging and free machining grades to other ASTM standards (A314 and A582/A582M) while A479 is silent on those items and they are presumed to not be covered.

Is Nitronic 60 weldable?

Most applications would use Nitronic 60 in the as-welded condition, unless corrosion resistance is a consideration. Fillerless fusion welds (autogenous) have been made using GTA. These welds are free from cracking and have galling and cavitation resistance similar to the unwelded base metal.

How hard is H900?

It is one of the most widely used precipitation hardening grades, as it has high strength hardness up to about 572°F while demonstrating good corrosion resistance in all heat treated conditions. Its mechanical properties can be optimized with heat treatment where very high yield strength up to 180 ksi can be achieved.

Does 410 stainless steel rust?

Some grades of stainless steel will form light rust when exposed to mild atmospheric conditions. Most 400 series stainless steels fall into this category and it is particularly true of type 410 which only contains about 11% chromium. The martensitic PH stainless grades like 17-4 and 15-5 will also rust.

What is the difference between ASTM A479 and ASME a276?

I believe you are confused between the difference between ASTM A 479 and ASTM A 276 and not ASME A 276, as there is no standard of such kind. The ATSM A 479/A 479M : 2018 is a standard that specifies Stainless Steel Bars and Shapes for use in boilers and other pressure Vessels.

Which is bigger A240 or a276 / A479?

We bought the above size, but in A276/A479 as that is the specification for bar (4″ width) vs plate that we would have had to burn/cut here. Our client, whom is the one actually contracted with the helicopter mfg, is rejecting this material and citing the incorrect ASTM designation.

What’s the difference between A182 and A479 bar?

I know A182 is forging and A479 is bar. Can you eloborate more on the differences of the two. Most of my mill certs state both. What factors must met in order to classify a bar as both? Do you have both ASTM specifications to review? If not, you need to obtain them to review side by side.

What’s the difference between A182 and A479 forgings?

Perhaps because A182 requires that forgings meet all the requirements specified in A961 whereas A479 does not and the material does not meet these requirements.
