Emerson Pro Pots (CTS) Potentiometers are custom made by CTS to Emerson specifications. Emerson Pro Pots are low torque and feature a proprietary custom audio taper that ware designed to maximize response (think turning down your volume to 2 and it’s the same effect as turning down your amp’s volume knob).

Are CTS pots the best?

A Tone Pot is nothing but a regular pot, with a capacitor soldered to it. A Tone Pot will work the same way as a Volume Pot, but just a little different. Instead of sending the entire signal to ground, the tone cap helps by sending only a part of the signal to ground.

At 10% tolerance the value of these CTS pots can range from 475K to 575K, and the majority of these pots will be much closer to the 525K spec. This means no exceptionally low or high resistance pots that can be found when using typical 20% tolerance 500K pots, or even 500K pots at 10% tolerance.
