Is woodchip good for allotments?

Wood chips are suitable for a variety of uses around your allotments, including weed suppressants around the beds, creating wood chip pathways, or even leaving to break down until such time as they become suitable to use as a soil conditioner.

How long do wood chip paths last?

The practical life-time of mulch can be anywhere from 4-7 years. This is how long it takes for a layer of mulch to completely break down, although it depends on a number of different environmental factors (e.g. in direct sunlight, covering very wet ground etc).

Are wood chips good for pathways?

It’s an amazing material to work with. The wood chips are so nice to walk on top of, they look beautiful and match everything growing in my garden just beautifully. The wood chips will sooner or later break down and turn into humus in the pathways. Then all you need to do is add some more of course.
