Is the IC-7300 a good radio?
Is the IC-7300 a good radio?
The IC-7300 is the radio to look at when you are in the market for an HF radio. You may have the best radio available from last year, but when compared to this treasure it isn’t all that much better if at all. Even the hand mic sounds wonderful and you can tailor the transmit output audio as well as the received audio.
Does the IC-7300 have a built in antenna tuner?
Every time we discuss external tuners on reflectors, a few people have to jump in and say that you need to have resonant antennas, so why would you ever used an external tuner, when the IC-7300 has a built-in tuner.
When did IC-7300 come out?
2015
Icom America announces the new IC-7300 HF amateur radio. The radio was introduced at the Tokyo Hamfair 2015 and includes a high-resolution real-time spectrum scope, intuitive interface and a RF direct sampling system &emdash an amateur radio first (as researched by Icom among major manufacturers).
What bands does the ICOM 7300 have?
Tuner
Frequency range | 1.9–70MHz bands |
---|---|
Matching impedance range | 16.7Ω–150Ω unbalanced (VSWR better than 1: 3) |
Tuning accuracy | VSWR 1: 1.5 or less |
Tuning time | 2–3 seconds (Maximum 15 seconds) |
What kind of transceiver does ICOM IC-7300 use?
ICOM IC-7300 SDR HF / 50 MHz Transceiver. The excellent ICOM IC-7300 is the FIRST “stand alone” Amateur Radio Transceiver that uses true “direct sampling” SDR technology PLUS also includes an internal antenna tuner and 100 watts RF output. Super fast “Real Time” spectrum display, no lagging “doggy” ones here.
Why is the IC-7300 a HF radio?
In an industry first the IC-7300 features RF, Direct Sampling typical only found in top of the line radio but now in an entry level HF radio. Because of the ability to digitize RF early in the receiver stage noise is reduced. Something IF radios struggle to achieve.
Can a international customer use the IC-7300?
International Customers other than the US and Canada are not eligible. New technology is changing the way receivers are being designed and the IC-7300 is an industry first as an RF, Direct Sampling System is being used in an entry level HF radio.
Is the ICOM ic-7600 a wide band receiver?
You will see reference to the Icom IC-7600 transceiver , Japan Radio Co. NRD-545 DSP receiver , 2 samples of Icom IC-R9000 HF-VHF-UHF Wide Band receiver (on HF), and the Watkins Johnson WJ-8711A receiver that I have owned or used over the years in the review below. The Icom IC-7300’s “receive” frequency coverage is from 30 hz to 74.800 MHz.
