Do decoys work for doves?

Dove are shy of any places that can hide a predator. In short, yes they do! I am a big believer in using decoys for dove, especially after the season has been underway a few days and the doves have learned about hunters! Decoys can make the difference between a good day in the field and going home empty handed.

Where should I set up dove?

If possible, set up with the sun at your back. That offers you the advantages since doves have very keen eyesight and will be hard to hit when they are coming in with the sun behind them.

Providing a range of grains and seeds is a sure way to attract doves, and they are partial to sunflower seeds, millet, milo, cracked corn, and wheat. Because these are larger birds, they prefer feeding on the ground or using large, stable tray or platform feeders that have adequate room to perch.
