The dunes may have started with sands from the Bonneville Flood which occurred about 15,000 years ago. The prevailing winds blow from the southeast 28 percent of the time and from the northwest 32 percent of the time, keeping the dunes fairly stable.

Where is Bruneau Dunes State Park in Idaho?

Bruneau Dunes State Park is located approximately 18 miles south of Mountain Home. Departing from Boise, take I-84 east to exit 90 and follow Highway 51 over the Snake River. After crossing the Snake, take the first left on Highway 78 towards Hammett. The park is about two miles from this point, on the righthand side.

Quiet hours are enforced from 10:00 pm to 7:00 am. Fireworks are prohibited in all parks at all times. No Exceptions!

How much does it cost to go to Bruneau dunes?

A $7.00 Motor Vehicle Entrance Fee (MVEF) is required for every vehicle entering Idaho State Parks (including visitors to campers). All campsite and facility use fees accommodate one (1) vehicle MVEF per night stayed. Any additional MVEF and per person charges will be collected at the park.

Do you need Ada to camp at Bruneau dunes?

Visitors and park day users may be required to park outside the campground. All yurts, cabins and group facilities that are ADA accessible do not require proof of disability upon arrival. Camping is allowed in designated areas only. All boats, trailers, or other motorized vehicles must fit entirely within the campsite parking spur provided.
