Are Sperzel locking tuners good?

Great tuners – solid, reliable and they do the job. Combine with an LSR nut and some graphite saddles for a guitar that rarely needs tuning. It has been a pleasure to install these on many guitars over the years as well as having them on a few of my own instruments and I will continue to use Sperzel tuners.

How much heavier are locking tuners?

The stock Fender tuners, all standard height with nuts and washers, weighed 213 gr or 7.50 oz for a complete set. The Fender locking tuners, 2 tall & 4 short with nuts and washers, weighed 221 gr or 7.80 oz for a complete set. I don’t think 1/3 of an ounce is noticeable but the speed changing strings sure is.

How big of a hole do you need for a Sperzel tuner?

How big are the Sperzel guitar tuners post housings?

The Sperzel guitar tuners “post housings” are approx .382″ this is only .007″ above a precision made brad point 3/8″ drill bit. So, I usually find that the best results come from drilling with a high quality 3/8″ Brad Point drill bit first.
