Are eye tests free at Specsavers?

While we aren’t running our free eye test offer right now, we are providing free eye tests on behalf of and funded by the NHS – of which we’re rightly proud.

Who qualifies for free eye test?

You’re entitled to a free NHS sight test if you:

  • are under 16.
  • are 16, 17 or 18 and in full-time education.
  • are 60 or over.
  • are registered as partially sighted or blind.
  • have been diagnosed with diabetes or glaucoma.
  • are 40 or over and your mother, father, sibling or child has been diagnosed with glaucoma.

Do Over 60s get free eye tests?

The good news is that if you’re 60 or over, you can have a free NHS eye (sight) test as often as you need one. This is normally every 2 years, but may be more often in certain circumstances. Your optometrist will be able to advise you as to how often you need to be seen.

When do I need to make an appointment with Specsavers?

If you need an appointment today – please phone the store as we may be able to help with any urgent hearing needs. (Updated: Mon 12th Apr 2021) Before your appointment, we’ll give you a call, as for some services we may be able to help you remotely. Face coverings need to be worn when attending, unless you’re in an exempt category or location.

When to go to Specsavers if you have covid-19?

Please be mindful of local coronavirus restrictions when you visit. IMPORTANT: If you/any of your household have COVID-19 symptoms or are self-isolating, please wait 14 days before booking and tell the store. Additionally, if awaiting the result of a COVID-19 test or asked to self-isolate, you should not attend until advised to do so.
