THE HANDLEBAR FAREWELL (for now) JAM featuring CRAIG SORRELLS PROJECT, MARCUS KING BAND, MILLI FUNGUS and FOUR 14
Today, 8:30 pm
and special guests Charles Hedgepath, John Durham and more
Friends don’t let friends move on without a big ol’ send-off, and since The Handlebar has 12,000 or so friends (and those are just the ones we can count on Facebook!), it’s easy to see why The Handlebar … (click for more information) is moving on and moving up -- and even easier to see why this show should be the biggest event in our Stone Avenue history. Driving the party are four Upstate bands that have become good friends through the years, hard-working artists who have done much to help build the Upstate’s music scene and The Handlebar. Craig Sorrells Project, the horn-driven funk-jam band, is famous for headlining shows, playing in The Work’s legendary Christmas Jams and opening for the likes of George Clinton and Robert Randolph. Four 14 and Milli Fungus play danceable, brassy world-rock and, between them, have shared our stage with Tim Reynolds, Perpetual Groove and Moon Taxi. And Marcus King, the guitar-shredding teen who started playing clubs when he was 13, helps rock this old building until the doors finally close for good – for better.
