What is LACP and how it works?
LACP, a subcomponent of IEEE 802.3ad, provides additional functionality for link aggregation groups (LAGs). LACP is compatible with other peers that run the 802.3ad LACP protocol. It automatically binds the member links without manually configuring the LAG, thereby avoiding errors.
What is LACP group?
A LACP channel group, also known as an etherchannel, an LACP aggregator, or a dynamic channel group, enables a number of ports to be dynamically combined to form a single higher bandwidth logical connection.
When would you use LACP?
Another useful feature of LACP is that when one member link stops sending LACPDUs (if the cable is unplugged, for example), it is removed from the LAG. This helps to minimize packet loss. Both devices must support LACP for you to set up a dynamic LAG between those devices.
