What are CO2 laser lenses made of?

What are CO2 laser lenses made of?

zinc selenide
CO2 laser optics are fabricated from special infrared materials that transmit at the 10.6 micron region: zinc selenide (ZnSe), germanium (Ge), galium arsenide (GaAs) and silicon (Si).

Does a laser have a lens?

Laser Lenses are used to focus collimated light from laser beams in a variety of laser applications. Laser Lenses include a range of lens types including PCX Lenses, Aspheric Lenses, Cylinder Lenses, or Laser Generator Lenses.

What lens do lasers use?

The most common laser lenses are 1.5”, 2”, 2.5” and 4”….2.5-inch lens:

  • Most common used for laser systems.
  • Multipurpose for both, engraving and cutting applications.
  • Graphics with medium detail and resolution.
  • About 63.5mm of thickness, for majority of works.

What kind of lenses can be made with ZnSe?

Only lasergrade ZnSe is used in the fabrication of lenses. See section M1.0 for detailed optical and mechanical properties of ZnSe. lengths from 3.0mm upwards. 4.2 (negative lenses); 4.4 (cylindrical lenses). For special applications, non-standard sizes can be made to order.

What’s the absorption rate of a ZnSe lens?

Surface roughness : Within 20Å rms (usually 12Å rms). Absorption : 0.10% – 0.20% depending on thickness. Transmission : >99.6% when AR/AR coated for 10.6μm. Standard lenses are AR/AR coated for 10.6μm. Other AR coatings include: high intensity laser beams.

What kind of material is ZnSe used for?

ZnSe is a preferred material for lenses, windows, output couplers and beam expanders for its low absorptivity at infrared wavelengths and its visible transmission.

How big are the optics for ZnSe selenide?

The material absorption is verified by CO 2 laser vacuum calorimetry. Our quality assurance department provides testing and specific optics certification on request. ZnSe optics are routinely polished from 5 to 300 mm in diameter. Sizes in 300 mm diameter and 25 mm thick are manufactured to customer requirements.
