Despite an announcement by adventure_of_link stating that “ZSNES is NOT dead, it’s still in development” made on the ZSNES board after the departure of its original developers zsKnight and _Demo_, development has slowed dramatically since its last version (1.51 released on 24 January 2007).
What’s wrong with ZSNES?
The main problem with ZSNES is that there’s no guarantee a game will run on ZSNES the same way it does on a real super nintendo (this is the “accuracy” people talk about). In fact, there are many games we know do not run on ZSNES the way they do on a real console. Some don’t run at all.
Why do people still use ZSNES?
The reason people still “love” ZSNES is because they think it’s “better” for some of its features, and thus they totally ignore the fact it can be used for malicious purposes and they’re at risk of potentially losing files on their computer.
How do I put games on ZSNES?
To load a game:
- Click on the Game menu, then Load.
- If you placed your games in the same folder as ZSNES then you will see them now.
- Double-click on a game to play it, or highlight it (using the arrow keys) and press Enter.

How do you load a game on ZSNES?
Enter / Return – Load the currently selected file or open the currently selected folder. If you input a single space, ZSNES will randomly select a game or folder within the current directory, depending on which box is highlighted. Then hit Load or press Enter to open the selection.
