How much did SOA lift?

How much did SOA lift?

Re: SOA= How Much Lift? 6 to7 inches depending on condition of springs.

How much lift does a spring-over give you?

The amount of lift gained is the sum of the axle tube diameter, the spring pack thickness, and both the old and new spring perches. On a YJ, this generally amounts to around 5.5″. Because the lift itself potentially uses all stock parts, cost is kept to a minimum.

What is a spring-over axle lift?

Put simply, a spring-over axle conversion is the act of moving your Jeep’s already installed springs and moving them from beneath the axle (spring-under) to rest over the axle (spring-over), effectively giving your rig a minimum 5” of lift while doing almost nothing to the ride quality.

What is SOA suspension?

A SOA is basically removing your leaf springs from your axles in the stock configuration, and bolting them above the axles. It naturally raises your rig about 6” if you are running stock-height springs, and more than that depending on how much arch you have in your springs.

Why do axles flip?

The main reason that spring axles are flipped is to create additional ground clearance. Most trailers come with the springs mounted under the axles and lower to the ground. Axles are generally underslung from the factory, offering a lower center of gravity, more stability, and better aerodynamics.

Can you put leaf springs on top of axle?

Yes, you can move your springs on top of the axle to gain more tire clearance. Doing this will raise the height of your trailer by the height of your axle and the thickness of your leaf springs.

What does SOA mean Jeep?

Exactly, SOA means Spring Over Axle. SUA means Spring Under Axle. YJs for example are SUA and can be lifted by changing to SOA.

What is Jeep SOA?

One of the most common conversions for the YJ is the spring-over axle conversion, or SOA for short. An SOA provides the Jeep with more ground clearance, a wider selection of springs options, and a substantial amount of lift without having to run overly arched or stiff leaf springs.

Can you flip drop axles?

No, it is not an “adjustable” axle. A drop axle is designed to get the load floor (or body) of a trailer lower than you can with a straight axle. Axles are normally installed “Spring Under” with the axle crossing the top of the springs.

Is underslung axle legal?

It is now illegal to build car trailers or any other trailer without spring suspension in NSW.

Can leaf springs be re arched?

Re-arching a leaf spring can be done by “cold” or “hot” methods. When a spring is re-arched, the leaves are returned to the original shape. Some people say re-arching springs doesn’t work well. If the spring steel hasn’t lost its “temper,” it can probably be re-arched.

Do leaf springs sag?

Leaf spring problems: Leaf springs can sag and weaken or one of the leaves can crack, fracture or break. If one of the leaves in the spring is broken, both left and right leaf springs are usually replaced at the same time, unless the vehicle is almost new.

Is there a SOA kit on a CJ5?

Can a Jeep YJ SOA be used as a lift?

How big of lift do you need for SOA?

You install a lift to increase clearance on your vehicle. Lifted spring kits do move the vehicle up, but they also leave alot of junk under your axles which reduces clearance. Our SOA system only sits about 1″ below the axle housing. Typical lifted spring kits with the springs under the axles will hang down about 2.5″.

Can a CJ spring over lift be used?

An SOA is a great way to accomplish this balancing act. The extra leverage by placing spring on tops of the axles gets you the same kind of flex as extreme coilover or 1/4 elliptic systems. Main difference is that you can still drive your CJ safely at 75MPH on the highway, and those extreme guys cannot.
