What is Uninstrumented Fusion?
What is Uninstrumented Fusion?
Also called a decompression, a lumbar laminectomy and fusion that is uninstrumented is done to treat pain cause by degenerative conditions in the lower back. Bone grafts can be used for fusing vertebrae to stabilize and support the spine following the laminectomy.
What is interspinous fixation?
Interspinous fixation (fusion) devices are being developed to aid in the stabilization of the spine. They are intended to be an alternative to pedicle screw and rod constructs to aid in the stabilization of the spine with interbody fusion.
What is fusion fixation?
Fixation techniques historically developed after fusion. Fusion represented the first attempt to achieve a solid arthrodesis after intervertebral disc removal and replacement with stable spacers (i.e., cages, bone grafts). Today fixation and fusion are achieved through a variety of approaches and devices.
Does spinal fusion work?
Spinal fusion is typically an effective treatment for fractures, deformities or instability in the spine. But study results are more mixed when the cause of the back or neck pain is unclear. In many cases, spinal fusion is no more effective than nonsurgical treatments for nonspecific back pain.
How are interspinous fixation devices used in fusion surgery?
These devices are typically used as part of fusion surgery. The device holds the spine in place while the implanted bone material eventually fuses the vertebrae together. Occasionally the device might be used without fusion surgery in order to relieve pressure on the spinal cord or nerve.
What kind of welding equipment does fusion technologies use?
We offer hardfacing equipment including Plasma Transfer Arc (PTAW) and Laser Welding in addition to traditional welding processes. These systems are also integrated with automation and robotic cells.
What makes up the plasma in fusion welding?
The electric arc ionises the gas (usually argon) in the chamber creating what is called a ‘plasma.’ It is then forced through a fine bore copper nozzle that constricts the arc and directs it to the workpiece, allowing the plasma arc to be separated from the shielding gas (which is usually made from a mixture of argon and hydrogen).
What kind of weld purge plug does Huntingdon fusion use?
For welding nickel alloy, titanium and stainless steel tubes and pipes, including stubs, elbows and tees, Huntingdon Fusion Techniques HFT® have designed and developed clinically clean, white nylon Weld Purge Plugs™, providing a great barrier for weld purging.
