Can I report my GP to CQC?
Can I report my GP to CQC?
If you have experienced or seen poor care from a health care service, you have a right to complain to the organisation that provided or paid for the care.
How often do CQC inspect GP practices?
once a year
We will ask you for information once a year, rather than before an inspection. We will ask about any changes at the practice since your last inspection or annual regulatory review. We gather this information by phone call. Your inspector will contact you four weeks beforehand to arrange a time.
Who do GP practices report to?
Most GPs are not employed directly by the NHS. They have a contract to provide NHS services. They employ their own staff and therefore if you have concerns about a member of staff at the GP surgery, you can complain to the GP who employs them. GPs aren’t usually responsible for out-of-hours services – see below.
What do CQC look for in inspections?
The inspection team uses the key lines of enquiry and information from the planning stage to structure their visit and focus on areas of concern or areas where the service is performing particularly well. The team collects evidence against the key lines of enquiry by: Gathering the views of people who use services.
When did the CQC start to inspect GP practices?
From October 2014, the CQC will begin to roll out their new inspection regime to inspect and rate every GP practice in England by April 2016. Practices will be inspected across five key questions, considering the extent to which they are safe, effective, responsive, caring and well-led.
How does the CQC check your practice rating?
CQC will use your previous practice rating to determine when to next inspect your service. Before the inspection, an inspector will phone the practice to announce the inspection and a letter will be sent to confirm the date.
When do we inspect GP practices, we give them ratings?
When we inspect GP practices, we give them a rating to help you choose care. As well as GPs, we inspect out-of-hours or mobile doctor services, walk-in centres, minor injury units and urgent care centres. You can use our inspection reports and ratings to help you understand the quality of care. On our pages for each GP service, you’ll find:
Where can I find the CQC inspection report?
The evidence that we have used to arrive at our ratings decisions will be available in a separate evidence table, which we publish alongside the inspection report. This includes relevant CQC Insight data.
