Do NYC Teaching Fellows get paid during training?
You will receive a pre-service training stipend of $2500 dollars, untaxed. This stipend will be distributed in increments (totaling $2500) over the course of training. Please note that NYCTF does not provide housing, health insurance, or transportation benefits during pre-service training.

How long is the NYC Teaching Fellows program?
7-8 week
NYC Teaching Fellows train through an intensive 7-8 week program from mid-June to early August. During training, Fellows learn the core teaching skills and techniques needed to be an effective teacher, regardless of grade level, content area, or instructional setting.

When do nyctf Fellows begin their summer training?
Fellows in our Summer Program begin in mid-June, training for 7-8 weeks at a Training Academy hosted by an NYC summer school. Fellows in our Fall Program begin in late August, training through November in the classroom of an experienced NYCTF coach.
How long is the application process for NYC Teaching Fellows?
The application process takes from six to ten weeks. Exceptional applicants will be offered acceptance into the Fellows program based on the strength of their application, their interview, their subject area eligibility, and the needs of the NYC Department of Education.
Is there a teaching collaborative in New York?
The NYC Teaching Collaborative provides a residency training experience (similar to a medical student’s residency) in a NYC public school for an entire school semester – weeks longer than most alternative certification programs. Partner Teachers are attracted to the opportunity to make a profound impact in the classrooms which need them most.
