The Mobile Intensive Care Nurse (MICN) Certification program is an eight (8) hour training program for California Registered Nurses with valid ACLS certifications that are interested in obtaining Kern County MICN certification. This course includes a thorough overview of the Kern County EMS system.

How do I find my Micn?

To be eligible for MICN authorization you must:

  1. Be currently licensed as a registered nurse, in good standing, in California.
  2. Have at least one year experience as a full-time RN in a critical care area in the past two (2) years.
  3. Successfully complete MICN course.
  4. Submit the required documents to the SJCEMSA (see below).

How do you become a Micn?

Upon successful completion of the MICN certification examination, the MICN candidate must complete a radio internship within six (6) months. A radio internship consists of a minimum of ten (10) base hospital ALS runs under the direct supervision of a certified MICN or base hospital physician.
