Is Tyvek paper waterproof?

Tyvek is waterproof in the sense that its structure remains stable and unaffected even when submersed in water, it’s just as strong when it’s wet as when it’s dry. Because of its permeable filament structure, Tyvek will allow the transmission of water vapour, allowing contents to breath even if totally enclosed.

Is Tyvek safe to breathe?

  • Is Tyvek truly waterproof?

    Strictly speaking, even hard structure Tyvek is classified only as water-resistant when water exposure is constant, according to the official Tyvek user’s manual. Water-resistance comes as a benefit of Tyvek’s composition and polyethylene’s natural properties, rather than the result of any sort of coating or treatment.

    What size staples for Tyvek?

    If you were using Tyvec, you can use 1″ crown staples for permanent installation. That sized staple typically requires a pneumatic stapler. For temporary installation, you can use slap staples (that kind you probably had in mind) but no specific size is specified.
