How long can you use Clinimix?
Use promptly after mixing. Any storage with additives should be under refrigeration and limited to a brief period of time, no longer than 24 hours. After removal from refrigeration, use promptly and complete the infusion within 24 hours. Any mixture remaining must be discarded.
Can you run lipids with Clinimix?
Lipid emulsion administration should be considered with prolonged use (more than 5 days) of CLINIMIX E in order to prevent essential fatty acid deficiency (EFAD). Serum lipids should be monitored for evidence of EFAD in patients maintained on fat-free parenteral nutrition. See prescribing information of lipid emulsion.

CLINIMIX and CLINIMIX E solutions containing more than 5% dextrose have an osmolarity of ≥ 900 mOsm/L and must be infused through a central catheter. CLINIMIX and CLINIMIX E contain no more than 25 mcg/L of aluminum which may reach toxic levels with prolonged administration in patients with renal impairment.
Are lipids compatible with dopamine?
SMOF lipids and dopamine are not Y-site compatible.
How do you hang Clinimix?
Grasp the bag on each side of the top of the bag. Using some pressure, slowly roll the bag to open the seal between the chambers (Figure 3). Be sure the contents of both chambers are mixed together after breaking the peel seal. Do not pull or rip the seal apart.
Can TPN be stopped abruptly?
In stable patients, TPN solutions can be abruptly discontinued.
Is insulin and potassium compatible?
Insulin – concurrent use may decrease serum potassium. Sodium bicarbonate – concurrent use may decrease serum potassium.
