Chalk Paint® even works outdoors! It’s particularly good on brick, concrete, stone and terracotta – and there’s no need to seal if it’s a vertical surface. On horizontal surfaces and garden furniture, use Chalk Paint® Lacquer.

Is Chalk Paint good for concrete?

I used the Chalk paint® to paint the inner mould before pouring the concrete but you can use the paint once the concrete has been set too. You don’t need a lot of paint so Chalk paint ® project pots are perfect. The colours I used are: Graphite.

Does Chalk Paint wash off concrete?

If the chalk is used on a newly poured sidewalk or driveway, there is a possibility that the open surface pores in the concrete could absorb the colors. In most cases, the chalk markings wash away with the first rainfall if it is used on a paved or poured surface that is more than two years old.

Is Chalk Paint OK for outdoors?

Because of its versatility, you can paint anything from plant pots and sheds to back doors and plastic garden furniture. Chalk paint will stick easily to any surface and you shouldn’t need to use a primer beforehand. Just make sure the surface is smooth, dry and clean before you start painting.

Rain will wash away Chalk Paint® and compromise the Lacquer if either hasn’t dried sufficiently before being exposed to water. Don’t use Chalk Paint® Wax outdoors. Do play with bright colours – being bold is easier outdoors.

How do you apply chalk paint to concrete?

If you’re painting onto raw concrete, you may prime it with plaster primer or simply paint straight onto the clean surface with chalk paint. Using a roller for semi-smooth to rough surfaces, apply at least two coats of chalk paint. Remember to allow them to dry thoroughly in between.

Is chalk bad for concrete?

The initial problem with sidewalk chalk is that the colorants and dyes in the chalk can stain concrete, especially newer concrete. While most of the chalk substance could be removed by scrubbing, if the color gets into the concrete, then it’s there until that concrete somehow wears away.

Is acrylic chalk paint waterproof?

Chalk paint is water-resistant. It needs a sealer of lacquer if the surface is exposed to water. It is not waterproof and should not be used on surfaces that are in constant contact with water.
