I’d say Jazz, Classical, and Metal are technically the hardest genres in general but all styles have their difficult songs (easy ones too).
What makes a good riff?
Repetition. One thing you’ll notice with all great riffs and licks is that they are rarely played once. Try creating a succession of notes that can be repeated at least twice, with some variation on the third repetition. The more it’s repeated, the more chance it has of sticking in someone’s head!
What is the easiest metal genre?
Honestly, the easiest sub-genre of metal to learn to play is “nu-metal.” I’d go for stuff with a heavier, faster edge like more recent Ill Niño – check out “This Is War,” “Compulsion of Virus and Fever,” “The Alibi of Tyrants,” and “Kelloggs, Bombs, and Cracker Jacks.”
