Can you use EastLink without an ETAG?
If you travel on EastLink without a valid tag or account, and without buying an EastLink trip pass within three days after your trip, we will send a Toll Invoice by email, SMS or post to the registered owner of the vehicle. The Toll Invoice includes fees in addition to the tolls incurred.
Is EastLink cheaper than CityLink?
Charges other than tolls are slightly better value on Citylink. Are the tolls cheaper on Eastlink (reciprocal use) or the same? They’re the same. No extra fee for having the ‘wrong’ tag.

How do I get an ETAG?
What you need
- your personal or business details.
- the vehicle’s details, including the state the vehicle is registered in (it doesn’t have to be NSW)
- your Australian Business Number (ABN) or Australian Company Number (ACN) (if applicable)
- payment for your tag security deposit, and the account’s opening credit.
What happens if my ETAG does not beep?
If it doesn’t beep at all, your tag may be incorrectly installed. Check your tag is properly installed by reading our tag installation instructions. If your tag is properly installed but still not beeping, order a replacement tag by calling 13 33 31. It’s a good idea to order a replacement as soon as you can.
Can I use my ETAG in a rental car?
If the rental car company confirms that you have the option to pay for your own tolls, simply add the licence plate of your rental vehicle to your E-Toll account. Any toll travel in this time will be applied to your account. ‘No Tag in Vehicle’ fees apply if you’re travelling in a vehicle without your tag.

- Open the Linkt app.
- Tap the My Account tab.
- Tap Tags.
- Tap Order Tag / Tag Holder, select Tag Holder, choose the tag you want to order the new holder for and follow the prompts to complete your order. You will see an estimated delivery time.
Is it cheaper to have an ETAG?
Tolls are cheaper when using a tag. No tag fee at the moment so it’s a good time to get a tag. All tags work on all toll roads around Australia doesn’t matter what state you buy it from. Usually have to pay around $40 if you loose your tag.
Does ETAG cover all tolls?
*Your Tag, Tagless or Commercial account can cover trips made up to 10 days ago on all toll roads in NSW or Victoria except for the Sydney Harbour Bridge & Tunnel (NSW) or EastLink (Victoria). To pay for past travel on these roads, you’ll need to buy a separate pass.
