We welcome all dogs to Gibside and know that it’s a great place for them to enjoy as much as their humans do. We do ask that they are kept on leads and that you clean up after them. They are also welcome to join you at the outdoor seating areas of the cafes. Visit here for more information on visiting with your dogs.

Do you have to pay for Gibside?

Members can book for free, while non-members will need to pay when booking. Sadly if you don’t book, you’ll be turned away, even if you’re a member. Tickets will be released every Friday.

What’s the best thing to do at Gibside?

No visit to Gibside is complete without a trip to the Strawberry Castle play area. This wooden fortress is fit for any King or Queen ready to take on the world. There are also swings, a zip wire, water challenge and more. If you’re a dare devil, the low ropes course could be for you – can you make it all the way to the other side without falling?

Gibside is situated c 1km east of Rowlands Gill. The c 150ha site is on land which slopes down to the River Derwent which forms the northern boundary. Leapmill Burn forms the boundary to the west and the fenced edge of West Wood the southern boundary.
